In the January 21 Top Board finale for the 2022 season of the Virtual Diplomacy League, Chicago hobbyist Brandon Fogel took the League championship with a commanding board top as Russia. Fogel came into the event as the third seed, finishing regular season play behind only 2021 VDL season champ Nicolas Taillet and 2022 Tour of Britain winner Tim Crosby. The game finished in Winter 1906, well before any time limit issues loomed, which shows how dominant Fogel’s performance truly was.
